Qualification Series for Nastia Liukin Cup kicks off 2021 Women’s Program Events

This past weekend marked the first official qualifying event for the Nastia Liukin Cup 2021 series. With 18 Junior and 18 Senior gymnasts able to compete in the Nastia Liukin Cup each year, the competition has always been fierce. This year the Nastia Liukin Cup will be held in conjunction with the Winter Cup and Elite Team Cup - making for one exciting and gymnastics packed weekend in Indianapolis.

US Athletes Prepare for Return to Competition at friendly “Friendship and Solidarity Competition”

The world was watching as six U.S. gymnasts took part in a competition on Sunday, November 8th in Tokyo. The Friendship and Solidarity event implemented strict COVID-19 safety protocols that could serve as a foundation for the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games and also featured gymnasts from China, Japan, and Russia.

USA Gymnastics Announces Virtual Events

USA Gymnastics announced that they plan on utilizing virtual event sanctions and a free platform for hosting virtual meets. Athletes of all levels & across all disciplines will be able to compete through sanctioned virtual events, and gymnasts will also be able to use their scores for level movement. This ensures that more athletes are able to compete despite coronavirus complications.

Friendship Meet May Open the Door for Postponed Olympic Games
Watanabe, who is also an International Olympic Committee member, says he has never felt such responsibility. The Friendship and Solidarity Competition is a four-nation meet in November that could “open the door” to the Tokyo Olympics.
